Marrissard grafted chestnut tree chestnut production is good to excellent of large to very large chestnuts starting at the age of 4-6 years. Full production is realized in 12 - 20 years depending on the location. Nut fall is usually late October. One of the best European x Japanese hybrid chestnut trees for chestnut blight areas with warm to hot summers. Marrissard does not produce pollen so it requires another pollen producing chestnut tree to produce nuts and is pollen sterile.

The Marrissard chestnut tree of European x Japanese hybrid cultivar producing a tall spreading sized chestnut tree with heights reaching 60 feet or more and 25-35 feet wide. The tree can be kept pruned to the size that fits your location. Winter cold/freeze damage can occur when winter temps drop below -10 F. Root rot resistance is good to excellent.
